Continuity through an open kitchen defined by the design of custom cabinetry as furniture. To maintain smooth transition from area to another, from one function to another, subtle angles, changes in elevations, and dimension shifts were utilized. In the tradition of furniture design, the full height cabinets were fabricated of book-matched ‘anigre’ with small-edge beads. Etched glass, both transparent and mirrored, was utilized to diminish the scale of the cabinetry and create transparent reflective views. A pattern of individually hand set glass tiles further diminishes the boundary of the space and creates an intelligent play on the urban texture of exposed brick party walls.
